ISP buying domain?

Got some bloke who keeps banging on about wanting a domain. The strange thing is he keeps telling me his ISP is going to pay for it? Anyone else had something like this.

Price is over £,£££ and when I said its quite strange that an ISP would buy it for you he said 'they told me it is easier as they will also invoice me for the registrant change and tag change at the same time and I also have time to pay their invoice, which helps my cash flow.'

Unless he means it's his ISP. Him being the owner or employee etc.

He may be brand braggs or similar.

It's an LLL domain.

My gut feeling is that this person is trying to pretend to be a Joe Bloggs but really its for some bigger purpose.

Sounds convoluted and over-complicated to me. I'd tell this guy that you know what it's worth, and to re-think his approach.

Couldn't you sacrifice a few % and use an ecrow service? That way, you don't have to care who's footing the bill, so long as the deal's paid for...

Was it a recent catch?

If so perhaps the ISP didn't renew it, so are having to fork out to buy it back for their customer. Just a thought as I've seen that happen before

Don't try to second guess. Tell the enquirer what your desired price is, plus escrow. If he meets your requirements ask him how he wishes to proceed and go ahead.

Lol that's interesting. Especially if it was previously ntl or cable and wireless. I hear the metropolitan scuffers are looking for a few LLL domains
