Good reg? or waste of time?

Today, plans to develop Scotland's first commercial Gold Mine were approved.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...iness-15436309

The gold mine is in Cononish, and it is known as Cononish Gold mine...

So I have just registered... cononishgoldmine.co.uk

Good reg? or waste of time?

Hate to be the TM police but this is something to keep in mind.

Whoever owns the mine could have a claim to the name/domain - unless there are a bunch of mines there.

It is a mine, it is in Cononish, that's as far as it goes.

The company is ScotGold

Maybe you are right though.

The clue is in the "first" gold mine. If there's only one of something, it's hardly a generic blanket description for all the mines there!

I walked past the mine last summer on the way up Ben Lui. It basically is Coronish - a place that consists of a farm and the mine about 4 miles up a track from the nearest road in Tyndrum.

My gut instinct says it's a terrible registration and a potential headache but we can't really say if it is a bad reg for you unless you tell us how you plan to make money from it? I'm assuming you have an idea rather than just hoping that the owner of the mine will want to pay for it?

We've all made bad registrations and hopefully righted things once they've been thought through so I'm not knocking you but I can't see how this is anything other than squatting.

Since you asked, I don't think I would have regged this. Aside from potential intellectual property issues, I just think it's not that interesting a prospect and better opportunities will be out there.

For info, McKlondike is currently available in all extensions, although I would strongly suggest that any resultant gold is not used to build any arches ...

McKlondike would be the Irish version, Scottish would be MacKlondike
(like McDonalds, the Irish-American burger joint who sell the Big Mick!)

More seriously, TrossachsGold LochLomondGold and LomondGold all appear to be available in all extensions (no IPR checks done) and feel more attractive to me, being able to flex to cover both the mine and any eventual products, plus others in the overall surrounding area rather than just the one (currently-)obscure placename.
