Uk.net

Are these ever worth registering in your opinion? Appreciate they're not anywhere as good as a .co.uk or org.uk but if there's a really good name would you consider registering?

I really wouldn't consider it unless it was absolutely premium. Main reasons for me are added cost of renewals and it's quite a hard extension to remember for word of mouth etc. Not sure about the SEO benefits in UK search but I'd opt for a .co.uk over it every time

Oh I agree fully and wouldn't purchase unless everything else was taken but the word I'm looking at has over 5,000,000 searches a month so is a really premium name so figure it might be worth doing, perhaps to develop instead of sell.

It sounds like you're looking at broad searches and not exact.

As for the SEO of a .uk.net, I've worked with a bunch of .uk.nets and .uk.coms - the website as a whole will rank just as well as any other .co.uk or .org.uk - however the 'exact match' term gets very little weight.

I would not even want a .uk.com.
Be aware these are private subdomains, not real domain names.

I would stay away if possible but for me there are definitely arguments for using a .uk.net (can any of the people above expand on their feedback?)

There are a lot of decent names out there that could form a strong brand online - despite the relatively unknown extension. But with pretty much every decent .co.uk and .org.uk being taken their popularity is only going to increase. A short, catchy .uk.net beats any dodgy-hyphenated-org-uk for me.
