And if you were looking for e.g. some Adobe software, would you not want to know you were visiting Adobe.com and not YangsAdobeCopies.cn?

Apps will only ever be part of the picture imo. Domains work exceptionally well – I believe, like phone numbers, they are here to stay.

My point on here was that the consumer would never see the URL so it wouldn't matter what the domain was but hey lets hope that domains are here to stay, even if domains don't matter because the consumer doesn't get to see the URL it would still be years away before they became of little importance in that way.

I will still be regging some

Interesting quote from that article:

Quote:
While some of the “geniuses” on other threads think APPs will obsolete .com’s, the key is getting the APP on the phone – that means marketing – which means a great .com is needed to promote it – that mean $100K for Touch.com was a great deal.

Everything be voice activated and beamed up on 3D holographic OLEDs soon enough. No more need for browser bars. Maybe i watch too much Sci-Fi

At the end of the day the web browser is an app itself, the difference is that you can use it to view whatever you want rather than restricting yourself to what a developer deems important.
