It is ye I agree, if I was intending to research drop catching I would have done the very same. But I didn't intend to go out of my way to research drop catching, I use this site anyway, my point being it was nice to see a thread where someone goes some ways towards explaining what goes on. I had a quick look on nominet out of interest and I still think I gathered more from this thread, nominet doesn't appear any less technically worded? |

I've always wondered why catchers offer their services out. If I book a great domain to be caught and it's worth say 1k, it seems strange that it would only cost me the £30.00 no win no fee charge. Wouldn't the catcher be annoyed he had caught this for me. What's in it for him/her to do this?

I've seen loads of domains caught by catchers and catch companies sell for thousands and it only cost them £30 or £40 I guess it's down to all the £30's they make on domains worth nowt like the ones I used to book lol Money in the bank or domain scratch cards. I'd for money in the bank. Good to see how honorable the people are when they let people book high value domains. |

Occasionally there is conflict of interest and simple honesty between supplier & customer has worked OK for me so far. I have a 1st come 1st served system and I pop my names in the queue alongside any customer bookings. Also, many people will have different niches, a lot of the names I catch for others would never make it onto my own lists. I have cringed at times when I've seen a name I caught for a customer immediately go on sale for many times the catch fee, but that's the game we're in. If your only income stream is catching domains and selling on, then I can see why you'd not catch for others, however, domain catch is only 1 of my revenue streams.
