Just wonder if anyone else has experienced strange anomalies using the keyword tool?

About a month ago I had my eye on a domain which had 49,500 local monthly exacts for the search term. (I was definitely using the tool correctly with 'exact' matches ticked, global unticked and logged in as a UK user)

I didn't buy the domain immediately as at the time only crummy extensions were left.

Since then a better extension has become available. I checked the keyword tool again a few days ago and now under all the headings it just displays a dash (presumably indicating zero or no results available?)

I've been onto AdWords support but the girl that's helping me has admitted she cant explain it and it doesn't make sense to her either.

Anyone else come across this and/or has an explanation for it?

I haven't bought the domain in question (yet) so sorry for being kryptic

I saw exactly the same and mentioned it in a sales thread.

Also noticed it for some other terms that get traffic, such as 'car valuation' which used to show as 49,000 exacts but now shows a little -

It must be some sort of bug, I checked "condoms" on the keyword tool recently, it wouldn't give any figures for it, just a - where the figures should be, it's now showing results when I just checked it.

Quick update on this....

Nearly lost the will to live dealing with AdWords support staff yesterday.....final straw was when they told me the term I was searching for could be suddenly showing zero results due to "seasonal variation" (er, not when it was 49,500 searches last month!!)

Anyhow, I pressed the issue with them and they've now admitted there are errors with certain searches at the moment.

"I reached out to our product specialist team and found that there is a technical issue that is affecting the search volume in the Keyword Tool
for exact match keywords, because of which it is not showing any data for
some keywords. Until the issue has been resolved, we'd recommend you to
use the Traffic Estimator Tool as a temporary workaround.

Once this issue has been fixed, we'll post an update on the AdWords Known Issues Page at http://adwords.google.com/support/aw...nown_issues.cs. This page provides information about technical issues that are currently affecting AdWords accounts."
