![]() | Copyright I just noticed the copyright banner on the Acorn Domains main page. While the admins are entitled to claim copyright of their own postings, I don't much like the idea of them claiming copyright for my writing. As far as I'm concerned all my posts are hereby in the public domain (if anyone cares). Doesn't this go for everyone else's posts too, despite what the banner claims? P. |

![]() | You mean: "All Content on this site is Copyright AcornDomains.co.uk and may not be reproduced without our permission." ?? That's just standard hat text you'll find on quite a few forums, it probably refers to parts of the site like the lists of domain sales, and the domains which are posted by the admins and members alike. I do a lot of hard work mining traffic names for the traffic section, I would be pretty angry is someone came along, and copied the information then posted it elsewhere. And i'm sure the same goes for everyone else. |

If they were only claiming copyright of specific parts of the site (like the lists you mention), then they would have stated this, rather than claiming copyright to all content. P. P.S. This post is hereby in the public domain, with permission granted to anyone who wishes to copy it

| Administrator | We put that there mainly to stop people copying our available names lists and posting them as their own. We can change it to something else if members are not comfortable with it. How about "All Content on this site is Copyright AcornDomains.co.uk or the respective AcornDomains.co.uk forum member and may not be reproduced without permission." We are happy to debate this and come up with something everyone is happy with.

However I do think it's important to maintain an understanding that we are posting in the public domain, and our posts become no-one else's property, despite what they may claim. P.

My point about domains posted to members and forum supporters is still valid though, if someone posts lists of domains on other forums i'll simply stop posting. I think this was the main reasoning behind the copyright, but I also think you have a good/valid point New footer fits well. Last edited by retired member 1; 26-09-2005 at 08:34 PM.
