Dropping Names; then Sell for reg fee.

Do you have domains your dropping coming up ?

The second they drop your out of pocket by around £6-£10 depending on who you register with, so why not sell/move them to other domainers for a set 'reg fee style price' ?

The idea of this thread is three fold

1, Break even on your domain drops.

2, Reduce the load on everyones catching service.

3, Pick up some bargains.

Its been proposed a set fee of £7.50 per domain is set, and this seems good to me. You can put whatever price you want on names that is LOWER and make bulk purchases deals too, but no prices over £7.50.

I also propose those who have them in multiple accounts on nominet, should either Merge accounts or list what is each account.

Each account will incurr a £10+Vat Transfer (payable by the buyer).

So in summary, If your letting names drop and want to break even, post your list by account along with any bulk deals and sell them.

I'm going to review my names and my partners names too and post the drops for the next few months when I get back as I just had a call out for work.

Good idea Skin, i'm trying to ditch some names now and sold 2 at the moment.

Your right Nominet accounts need to be clean or will be to many transfer fees.

So if someone buys a handful from one account say 5, they only pay 12 pounds ( ish ) between all 5

£7.50 is fine.

Where's this list being posted ?

Maybe Admin starts a new category like they did with Name swaps.

Now thats a good idea worthy of it's own section unlike domain leasing.
I've let loads drop which i'm sure others might of wanted as I guess have others on here. You could say they can be posted in the sales thread but it would be nice to section them off for those who might not be interested.

Just like I don't like .orgs but still have them mixed in with co uk's on here.

This is certainly something I've thought about in the past and is something that everyone could benefit from... Ive started posts in the past for names im dropping to try to break even.

I think if we had a section we would need a list of VERY SPECIFIC rules that apply to everyone. If you are going to drop a name and want to get rid you can list it in a section for a FIXED AMOUNT controlled by the forum... i.e.: if you want to sell it for more or less than that amount you list it in the appropriate section of the forum not in the dropping section. Therefore all that needs to be listed is the domain and contact details, nothing else.
