I don't think turning this into a personal attack will solve anything. I was merely offering my opinion, the admin owns this forum and will decide what to do.

Multiple other forums don't allow bumps like this and I personally think it is good.

Yes I have a sales background and no matter how much you entice some people if they don't want something they won't buy it.

Put your toys back in your pram.

There was no personal attack, it was a response, you'd know if it was a personal attack as you'd be speechless with no reply. I don't think you do have a sales background as anyone with one knows you can sell ice to eskimos if it's good enough and blagged (read provided with enough information) enough. Your reply made this personal, I'm signing off after this.

As for your other forums that don't allow offer updating in existing threads, yeah, ever wondered why they're dead and don't sell names yet this one does and frequently across the board? There's a buyer for almost every domain, some may get fed up of seeing it but one will buy it in the end. I have ten prams and loads of toys, don't make this personal next time, I replied to your opinion and sense of selling power and asked if you were qualified to make such a statement on selling domains in this fashion.

Why have we got forum rules?

95% of members follow the rules the other 5% think that they are above the law and that forum rules are there to be broken.

If you don't like or wont follow the rules of the forum then quietly leave rather than get banned.

If something works don't the rules normally need to be changed slightly to make it legitimate instead of arresting people that do very little wrong apart from being successful and doing harm to no one. Hark at me, the left winger...

All the best sellers, even some moderators break 'the rules' isn't it time to change the rules so what works can continue to work? maybe meet in the middle somewhere. Updating threads with offers in a short period of time works for everyone.

I wish i knew what some of those who complain, what their actual main gripe was, is it that they show up in the new forum posts section, what is it exactly that domainers on here don't want a new offer on a domain or for a seller to find the right price instead of it going unsold for three months because neither party budges or waits for the other to miraculously (sp) read minds.

I'll repeat again as it's important to realise;

Since monday the users with multi threads in the fixed price names for sale:

paullas 4
pred 2
LeeOwen 3
Dean 2
Pendragon 2
DB 2
Shergar 2

etc... not alot I know per person but together thats 15 threads when 7 would do.

Perhaps a simple rule of one sales thread per week would help those who multiple post / sell names? Then it means other names also get seen rather than a handful dominating?

The weekly sales thread for regulars could be bumped rather than new threads all over the place

To take that idea further, the ongoing salesmen - im thinking DB/laskos/leeowen etc ie. usual suspects when you see new sales threads could have their own subforum?

I would agree with domainangel to dump anything apart from .uk , there is loads of other places where people can tout their crap .com's / nets etc, and we dont really need nutters on here telling us all how great mobi/tel/asia/eu is

just my 10p

I agree, should be .UK domains only - that's Acorn's niche.

I've not read all the posts but here's my bit.....
I have been contemplating banning myself from here recently as I believe the forum has deteriorated into a predominant sales forum. I can't personally see much other benefit from the site other than selling domains. There are loads of members which post in the sales thread only, and aren't interested in contributing anywhere else. Or they popup once in a while to flog their wares. You post for a wanted domain and be VERY specific and you get bombarded with shite!. Other sections your lucky to get a reply at all and it's senior members which are covered by the above. I have collapsed a lot of sections and can honestly say I probably only look at 3 or 4 now.

I agree with the .uk specialism... I think there are a lot of seperate sections that could be removed or at least merged and a little more organised to make it easier to view/reply and comment on the most important topics, ie. anything .uk related.

I don't think new threads every 24 hours are a problem, nor do I think legitimate updating of offers during a day are either, if half the people that bought from me in the last ten days responded in the threads themselves I wouldn't have needed to so I asked the last one to do exactly that and I will in future also, that way the threads get updated by those buying or enquiring.

I sold a dozen to twenty names last week so it's no wonder the threads have been busy, i'll sell another dozen to twenty in the next week too and the week after when on holiday. There's something some can look forward to.

Maybe if someone isn't interested in a domain, once they read the post they could turn it off somehow as in, wont show in new posts anymore, I don't know, those who complain never real state the exact reason for their complaining other than that they don't like the way I sell my names successfully. I think it's the new posts page, not sure.
