![]() | Voluntary Code of Practice/Ethics suggestion Admin Posted this here as others feeback on it would help too... As with all 'emerging' markets, their comes a time when a code of practice/ethics can come in handy to help generate an atmosphere of security and confidence in the said emerging field. Not the best illustration but take 'estate agents' as an example... What I'm thinking is like the trader rating but with an extra edge... Volutary of course but offering commitments from those involved with some kind of avitar designating voluntary code membership. EG: A 'price of a pint' size donation to AD verifies domainers ID and can help stop any potential scams. A seven day rule to 'make good' on transfer form requests or down payments which helps speed up processes for all involved. If acting as a end user buyer, owner seller or 'middle man' broker, that should be stated to protect all parties involved etc, etc... Obviously others would need to input to get a form of structure BUT, I can only see something good to the benefit of all coming out of this... Just an idea... |

Happens all the time in other industries. You find somewhere to source widgets for 10p and sell them for 1 pound... sometimes to people who then sell them on for 3 pounds (example figures). Does everyone disclose everything? No way!

![]() | Edwin As far as I'm concerned it brings transparency and wouldn't bother me in the slightest... In fact, I think it could enhance deals and add professionalism... Thanks for the feedback... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (100% / 15) | I think the lyrics deal has made some people too paranoid re: the resale of domain names. Please remember the deal was domainer to domainer not to an end user, so its hardly suprising if a domain or site changes hands in the future. If anyone wants to protect themselves they can always work in a sell on clause into the contracts / agreements. I have traded for about two years now with deals ranging from £x to £xx,xxx all based on trust really. If there is a problem with a deal then either one of the people is untrustworthy or crap communication - ie. turn around times, payment dates and methods not stated from the outset and thus people are disappointed. Code - No. Common sense - Yes |

![]() | Rob Your right it is common sense but everyone has a differing opinion on what common sense is in practice... A code of 'common sense' ensures all are operating from the same fundamental understandings... Please remember I'm saying a VOLUNTARY code... Thanks for the feedback... |

| Administrator | Well we hoped the trader rating system would cover this. We could set up a Domain Owners Club type thing but I'm not sure how we can vet people, I think just seeing them here every day is enough for most domainers to establish a relationship well enoughto do trades. If the sale is of any value then you should use an Escrow service anyway, it doesnt cost that much. We always welcome suggestions so if we can formulate something that makes sense, we would be happy to host it, although if its limited to just AD forum members its probably not worth the effort.

![]() | Thanks Admin Trader rating is great... Superb addition to the forum... Was thinking transparency, confidence, security etc, etc ultimately brings more sales - a commitment (Voluntary) to a code of practice / set of ethics can help establish a foundation on which trust and confidence can be quickly built upon. Possible opening for 'Acorn Escrow' Like I say... Just an idea... |
