wanted section

is it just me or are people using the wanted section not to buy domains but to list build / get ideas on what domains to reg. I am seeing people are forever posting domains they have in the wanted section but not seeing domains actually sold.

Some blatant list building going on there for sure...

Also many times I've seen users post names then the buyer says I've found one which was available as a "Free Reg" - More like you added that extra " S " or subtracted it from the names people have been posting

The above is an issue for sure, but the biggest problem is no budget posted. Without a budget, are we talking 50 quid or 50,000 quid? Makes suggesting domains a complete nonsense...

Perhaps the forum summary could have a line added to it somewhere that reads (in bold): "All domain wanted threads MUST include a budget or budget range. Threads without a specified budget will be deleted without prior warning)" or something like that. I know it's in the sticky post already but sadly most people probably don't read the sticky.

perhaps people instead of posting 'pm sent' should be posting 'reply received' - never sure why we put pm sent anyway?

PMs are meant to be private, so I don't think we should have either 'pm sent' or 'pm received' being posted in threads, it's just unnecessary posting/bumping

well in current cases perhaps people should use the domain trader feature, buyers claim to have brought 3/4 domains at £5k and are still looking - yet there is no proof of this? As the sellers are definitely members due to the ability to PM in the first place, could they not use the trader feature to back up the claims of the buyer, just polite after receiving £5k i would have thought? its not like you have to put domain names or prices in - most have portfolios of 1000+ are we going to guess which one they sold????

Sounds reasonable to me Charlie, I would have thought people would want to get the trader ratings high to improve their AD-cred anyway...

What if the domains were not bought via acorn ? eg just because they have posted on acorn that they have bought names for £5k+ etc, doesn't mean it was from another acorn member or through acorn domains at all.

It could merely be to show that they are serious about buying names and not a time waster like 95% of all others who have posted in the wanted section.

Just my 2p
