Domain Annialation Forum

Admin can please we have a new forum where we can talk about, or absolutely rip apart peoples absurd domain valuations found in the premium section, but without spoiling the domain sales thread?

This might seem counter productive but I think it will clear the market up. I think most people slightly over valuate their domain which is no big deal because it seems most people negotiate on price - but some of these figures are outrageous..

Not likely. Of course everyone thinks their little gem is worth a fortune!

If people haven't asked for an appraisal, I can't condone people giving one even if the price may seem high they can ask what they want.

Members are entitled to ask what they want for a domain. What value a member see's in there domain must remain there prerogative.

The most obvious buyer argument is that the name doesn't have thousands and thousands of exacts on google yet TrainingCourse co uk sold this month for $8000 and only had 500 exacts. Just because a name doesn't appeal to a particular person doesn't mean it has a low value. People trying to build a portfolio late on in the game naturally feel frustrated at prices but that's life.

Ha ha! Good idea - I've seen some, ermmm, very interesting listings recently in the 'premium' section and felt quite sad I couldn't comment there, lol.

If members are entititled to ask what they want for a domain then members are surely entititled to say what they want about that price, as this is a public forum is it not?

People are asking for thousands and tens of thousands of pounds here for mediocre domains - and we know if they tried submitting them to domainlore with those reserves about 1% would get listed.

Your trying to turn this post into a complaint about domains being over priced
which it's not. My idea is that members would be able to justify (if they wanted) the sales price in a seperate forum without clogging up the sales thread.

For example I posted Teabags.org.uk for £250 i'm happy to defend that price (i'll put my hand up and say i'd probably sell it for less than that!) and why I think it's worth that amount. If someone wanted to post it's absurd and completly worthless I can take that on the chin also.

Ironically if these domains are so valuable then surely it would benefit the seller to enlighten its prospective buyers.

Isn't that what the appraisals section is for?

I'm not sure if your allowed to post a domain you don't own for appraisal.

Now if that rule changed so any domain can be appraised then I think we'd could solve my boggle right now!

If someone posts a name to sell they are looking for a buyer not a critic. The art of selling a name is to match up with a buyer, not give a platform to all and sundry to devalue the name and I Quote you "absolutely rip apart peoples absurd domain valuations ".
So If you want to analyze a sales price after the name has been sold, that's great, that would be in the sold domains section.
If you want to sell your names at the price you choose, that's your prerogative, but that should not reflect on what price others ask for names.
