![]() | Domain Name Offers Invited
I'm guilty of doing it myself but lately in the Domain Name Offers Invited forum has turned into posting a domain then people bid from £50 regardless on the domain. Do you think there should be a forum for offers and a forum for so called "auctions" that are posted on here? (Again I do it myself!)

yup agreed i know there is an acorn auctions site but all the traffic is here plus i think it would be a good idea to have a dedicated section here for auctions that is viewable for users not logged in so get new members and endusers passing by later on admin could migrate section over to dedicated site but in meantime makes sense to have here i mean, why pay domainlore anything? seems silly keep going over there |

Sounds like a good idea to me. Anything that gets more sales happening is a plus.

I'd like to see a decent auction system integrated into the forums, I know there is acorn auctions but I think if it was built into the forums more people would use it.

![]() | Yeah, I have to admit that I don't even bother checking out the acorn auctions, so maybe I'm part of the problem. It just doesn't seem as user friendly, active or appealing as, say domainlore. Even if there wasn't a script used as such, but simply a very strict format for people to sution their names. I see lots of impromptu auictions on here where there ends up being a problem surrounding end time etc.

I had vBay running already for many years. Now I use vbClassifieds, How do people find it? http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/vbclas...&categoryid=11 I think I can improve it by moderating the domains listed to only the ones I think reasonable and having a short auction windows, say ,maximum 7 days. Thoughts? Admin Last edited by admin; 21-04-2011 at 07:37:28 AM. |

I'm going to try to script a PHP page from this: http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/vbclas...y&categoryid=7 that has less clutter so you can take quicker looks at what's there. The script is quite complicated though so not sure how far i will get. I think the one major improvement I can make is what Edwin said to me, it's more about the quality of the names listed than the quality of the auction system, so moderation of everything that gets listed should help towards this. I have already reduced the maximum listing time to 7 days. Admin |
