newbie needs advice

Hi,

I've just entered the domain buying arena by buying a £5k+ domain from a sedo auction. I would normally pay for something so expensive by credit card so i have some protection if for any reason i don't get the domain. Sedo want a wire transfer to Germany to hol in escrow. Whilst I'm sure this is all OK and Sedo seem like a reputable firm I would appreciate if anyone has any advice or things I should be careful when going through with this high value tranfer.

Si

was it mortgage broker .co.uk by chance?
if so, it was a member of this forum and might be worth talking to them with sedo knowledge to speed things up.

If sedo did the auction then you may aswell use sedo as escrow?

otherwise escrow.com has worked for me in the past.

beware sedo very slow progress, get a good account rep like nora or brad and deal only with them.

I think this post highlites why things start to go slow. If a buyer has understandable worries about sending cash to a business they've never heard of they often start to stall and have second thoughts. Whenever I've had slow sales through Sedo, I usually ring and without fail, it's always that the customer hasn't paid or has not sent the forms back to Nominet.

SimonB - Your money is safe with Sedo.
