![]() | Advice Needed I would appreciate any advice on this please I regd a .co.uk name in Dec 06 which i have now got parked, it has not been developed. I have done some research into the domain today and have found out the .com .net and .org have all been registered for the last 3 years to an american company who trade from them. Should i be worried that if this company decideds to start selling in the Uk they could try and claim my domain? Or could it be an oppertunity to sell it to them for a good price? Ben |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (100% / 14) | It's both an opportunity for them to claim the domain from you now and also an opportunity to sell it to them. If any one of 25 companies would even just tell me to **** off right now after initial contact, I'd be happier than having no response at all. |

![]() | Hi, you did the first thing right & didn't put the name here. If it's an outright tm then they can come & get it. If it's like a made up word then definitely. If it's generic you stand more chance. Best thing you can do is never approach them offering it. If you park it , make sure you don't have 'their' ads on. Better still , develop or put a work in progress sign & wait for an offer. cheers Pred

![]() | How easy is it for big companies to "claim" domains? Through trademark issues or other? This particular company is copyrighted for a three word business name (word1 word2 word3). However the domains they use (and the one i have) only use the last two words - word2word3.ext |

| Junior Member | That was a good question, I was also wondering that if I register a domain for example blablabla.com and after me registering this domain lets say a year or so someone starts a business with thesame name and registeres it as tm. can they take the domain from me? if yes what can i do to prevent this happen? |

![]() | Best way to protect yourself is by applying for a trademark in the country that your domain will be used in. Trademarks are inexpensive to buy however sometimes there is a lot of paperwork involved, and especially in the US takes a long time to get.

![]() | The retrospective TM and business start-up 'so I want the domain' area is something other resolution services have got a grip on (mostly). Hopefully the DRS consultation process will bring the UK DRS in line. S |

word1word2word3 and also word2word3 Im unsure about the trademark laws, but i know this company only trade in amercia. Does this now mean they could just take domain? or could i develop the domain and trademark it for use in the UK? | ||
