Well this is it, this is what the past years and last year have all been about I suppose, getting debt free, stopping smoking, a few other things, losing weight - still got two stone to lose as I took Winter off, now the final part of last year's new year's resolution, move abroad. As usual I have to rely on others, waiting on monies from four businesses next week and also not forgetting a property agency who were only contacted yesterday to find me a two bed apartment and things aint cheap over there, have a look for yourself. Some lovely apartments but in the holiday 65 euro a day business bracket (no chance), hopefully prices will settle soon, it's my fault, I am going to a capital city. Anyway, fate, you got to love it. So now just thinking whether I should book my plane ticket now for next Saturday/Monday or wait for confirmation of somewhere to live first, money is almost a cert, property has to be easy surely? I aint packed yet, doing that today and tomorrow and the next week. I need to find me passport an'all, there's nothing like planning when starting a new life. Haha. I've always done it this way. Interested? probably not but it helps me to get it out of my system, I don't know why I'm going Bucharest, it's just something I seem to have to do and doing what we do and the others on A4U then I suppose we have take advantage of being 'work anywhere in the world' people. I have dreams, I've always been told I'm a dreamer, I'll be a millionaire one day, I'll have a beautiful wife and I'll travel the world while over-seeing my own business, but whether that's a millionaire because of the way I feel, have a soul mate for a partner and travelling the world on a shoestring budget then that's a dream reached aint it? Well this is the first part, I aint ever set foot in Romania before but if it was anything like Budapest - which I didn't want to leave come the end of the week then so be it, I don't want to go through the leaving process again. I keep doing the sums on my fingers and I shouldn't be homeless after three months, I'm not going to the cheapest city in Romania, nor the cheapest country in 'europe' but it's a start. I don't know why I'm going abroad, but I do really, and at heart I think you all do too and probably would if you could. I know I know, I'll come running back after failing but it'll be fun trying. So don't wish me luck, just tell me to 'ck off, I'm Millwall we work better that way. I still don't know why I'm going Romania... but I keep telling myself "yes I do!" |

hats of to ya fella. havent chosen my destination as yet but on similar lines. You could always build a little network of buyers up and supplement your income selling stuff on ebay. Make sure you set up a blog so we can stay tuned. |

Thanks, I might be doing a site when I start travelling, not sure how to go about that yet, it depends how much I'll be able to do and if I have any spare money, hoping to go Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland, Italy and a few other cities in Romania and would be looking to earn some money from that. One thing I'm concerned about right now is getting my PC and TFT screen abroad - no laptops here. Do you think it will be safe and secure in its original packaging in the airplane cargo hold? Original packaging will be fine, just dont write fragile on it, like red tag to a bull for those luggage handlers. Dont forget your removable hard disk, dont wanna lose all ya work should anything happen. |

There's some really nice stuff at £1000 though but if I wanted to spend that, I could live here, but then I've got in such a state about England and the UK these days that I doubt I'd have the heart to wish to stay even if I was loaded. Now if only I could get a spacious apartment and rent the furniture haha - there's an idea eastcomfort.com/accommodation/apartmentDescription.php?cityid=1&act=im&typeid=12 8 I've emailed a few on the sly just in case they're having trouble in the holiday/business sector but summer is coming up - still you never know. The thing with property over there is they buy the space/land cheap but then build big apartments to rival those in other capital cities which means they can inflate the price but they sell the fact you get more space so quit your moaning and you do get more space, they're bloody huge apartments for the money. See still moaning, only because I want one. It might work for some but to be honest I'd take same space as here at cheaper price but then I'm not the one looking to make massive profit in property. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of two bed furnished apartments at £300 a month, just not as plush and lavishly dressed. I could go to Poland and Katowice for £125 a month but first things first. I'll see how easy the hard disk comes out but I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Last edited by retired_member6; 18-03-2007 at 06:45:11 PM. | |

Good luck Lee. It certainly sounds like you act on instinct, i have to say i find your writing posting style most amusing, yet straight talking at times. Take the time to set a blog up, post about the move, your travels and your new life, not only will it entertain us all but you might earn a few quid from adsense / affiliate ads on it.
