Bit scary out of 10,000 applicants they come up with crap like that. It was no dragons den or apprentice. I switched to the F word 15 minutes in.

Yeah, it was disappointing.

I think Peter Jones is probably using it as a vehicle to promote other things. He must have seen the viewing figures for Dragon's Den & the interest it provoked in the featured products & thought there is easy money to be made here, if only the show wasn't on the BBC.

Strange that there was no mention of tycoon.com though.

Btw, my money is on the newsletter thingy getting the push next week, although they are all worthy of getting the chop. Anyone running a book?

hmm yeah seems a bit of a waste... maybe the domain was purchased after filming?

the vodka girl gets the push, and by the looks of it the hair extension girl too (according to the spoilers at the end anyway)

The ideas were f@#king useless, with the possible exception of the 'Girlie Gardeners' although i feel the market is somewhat limited and i can't see the take up being huge.

Certainly none of the ideas will make any of them a 'Tycoon'....

What kind of person has a product that can be produced, sold and made into a profitable business in less than 10 weeks, yet is short of 10K and is willing to stoop to a show like Tycoon to get it? Presumably, somebody whose idea isn't really that ground-breaking so that they can retread an existing product and get it manufactured quickly.

I think the general level of cluelessness was inevitable given the microscopic amounts involved and the "huge" prize of getting the profit of all the other contestants - what profit is that going to be anyway, at the rate they're going??

Even Apprentice has the same basic problem: beyond a certain skill/clue level, taking the job on offer would actually be a real step down, so that places an automatic ceiling on the level of candidate willing to come forward.

reason he has such cr@p products on this show is that everyone with a decent idea has told him to do one.

in the contract for the show, if the idea does work. Peter gets 50% of it, so anyone with any real money making idea avoided the show like the plague.

I genuinely thought it was a comedy, I didn't know it was real for a few hours. The it dawned on me it was serious. When he said he wanted me meet that bird on the peir at the end, I though he was going to say "your business is junk, your an idiot, you've wasted my money" and then push her in the Thames. That would be better than "Your Fired".

Even the apprentice is a joke, Sahid spilt the beans on it last week. Says Alan suger is merely a modern day Robert Maxwell, trying to prop up him empire with dodgy publicity. Until he stops selling that stupid phone, I can't take him seriously either.

There is a guy at my local market who was selling a few of those phones so they are obviously worthless.
