Domain Name Association

Any news on whether the Domain Name Association plans are still pressing ahead. I thought I might have heard something about this at Domain Focus.

Stephen.

We have set it up and you can read about it here www.ukdna.org.uk

We are now working out what the membership fees should be and developing the members area.

If anyone wants to join/help please let us know.

We wanted to keep it seperate from Domain Focus and maybe we will hold our own events some time in the near future.

Red face bend it into a pipe and fish with my brolly

looks good andrew...

will or is there any chance of the ukdna being drawn into all the nic politics etc etc that most domainers do not wish to have part of...

e.g you concepted one of the best and by far easiest methods in the history of .UK names (pre-nom of course!) for a uk dn'r to make some $, would domainers / investors / trusts etc etc be opening up to abuse by joining said association...

you are by far one of the fariest to be invloved in a project like the ukdna but not everyone has your balls to stand up to some of the uk red tape etc

if a subscribtion based service, older than nic, was to be made available in the uk to uk dn'rs would this help the cause?

we love the idea and feel the mission statement is correct and will help, but there is just SO much crap invloved in uk dn owning etc will the ukdna help with that?

only ideas... no need for a flame anyone!

we await your input, as ever Andrew...

admin has disabled reputation

I know on the US forums members can have a badge icon to show they are a DNOA.org member and "trusted".

I would like to facilitate something similar through the AD member base as I am neutral to any event host / parking company / etc.

thanks

Thanks for the ideas guys.

I'm currently working on the membership area & badge etc

Also what do you think the membership fee should be?

As a guide.....

ISPA charge between £500 and £6000:
http://www.ispa.org.uk/about_us/page_14.html

ICA charge $199 but currently $99:
http://www.internetcommerce.org/membership_application

DNOA only charge $20 a year:
http://www.dnoa.org/joindnoa.php

FSB charge between £100 and £750:
https://www.fsb.org.uk/benefits/memb...scriptions.asp

You get a lot of stuff for your £££ with the FSB - that is, if you use it all!

It would have to be reasonable - I can't see many people paying higher than mid-high £xxx without a good reason & proven track record of reliability. Appreciate that you're trying to build a brand etc, and that it takes time & money however.
