good news

Got some really good news.......

me and the girls in accounts are gonna be made redundant

So we'll get a decent enough redundancy package.

It's a shame they did'nt keep the girls on as they've gone though a lot of flak from suppliers wanting cash.

This turn of events is down to our greedy Accountant trying to save his own skin by making suggestions to get rid of us and save on milk, tea, pies in the canteen etc and he's succeeded good news is he will be gone too.

Id wouldnt accept any less than 1 month per year of service - they may cap this at 6 months, at least thats what we get here *looks around office*

make sure they go through the 1month consultation period required of redundancy notifcation.

If they offer you any kind of compromise deal because they haven't gone throught the full redundancy procedures then see an employment lawyer, and make sure your employers pay the bill.

In fact, don't sign anything until you've seen an employment lawyer.

just make sure you know what's statutory and what's in the contract.

And that they follow employment law.

Good luck

I know of a good (and reasonably priced) employment lawyer if you want to speak to her.

I believe statutory redundancy is about £280 for every year you've been there plus notice if applicable. Hopefully you'll get more than statutory though.
