Hitch Hiking to Morocco for Charity..

Hi,

In a months time my mate and I are planning to hitch hike 1800 miles from Norwich to Morocco armed with nothing bar marker pens, ponchos and limited french, spanish or arabic!

We will have to blag ourselves lifts and fend for ourselves in the great unknown until we reach the ultimate goal of Morocco! We hope it will take around a week to get there!

We are doing this bizaare task for the charity Link Community Development - a small charity who actively provide education in Africa - an oppertunity for those born into poverty to have a better life.

If anyone would like to make a donation to help the cause, I have set up a online sponsor form reachable at www.justgiving.com/jimmyandjoe - additionally paypal donations can be sent to "itsjarmez@hotmail.com".

I want to raise £1000, however I would like to raise much more than this as the money really does make a difference - a tenner buys a school desk, £50 buys literacy training for two teachers. The money doesn't get lost - it actually makes a difference.

Cheers everyone - hopefully you can see how passionate I am about this cause and how truely mad I must have gone to do this !

cm1975 is an unknown quantity at this point

Let's hope you do better than this guy -

'A man who planned to walk from Bristol to India without any money has quit, after getting as far as Calais, France. Mark Boyle, 28, who set out four weeks ago with only T-shirts, a bandage and sandals, hoped to rely on the kindness of strangers for food and lodging. But, because he could not speak French, people thought he was free-loading or an asylum seeker' - The BBC Website.

Just a quick note to say that I made it safely back to the UK! - The hitch hike itself was traumatic! We were vastly underprepared for the hardwork and the weather (donned out in our hawaiian shirts, little did we know it would be raining and cold the whole journey!) - It took us 7 days from Norwich to Morocco and 22 lifts (one being from the police!) I wouldn't recommend doing it haha but it was a great experience. Thanks to those who donated, we reached our fundraising target, we are getting some prints printed on photobox so I will be sure to post some for your viewing!
