Just a thought !!!

What say do Brits have in this decision ?

We only invented the computer and created THE internet

not internet, that was first used by the Yanks but THE internet as in the World wide web.

For those who don't know there is a huge difference between internet and THE internet, i expect most regulars on here know the difference ?

What we going to have ? endless extensions !!!

I noted .IQ how about lowlevel.IQ
Notacleveridea.IQ

Nice if you become the register for a particular extension
Not nice if you want to protect your brand from cybersquatters
How much would it cost to reg all your brand names in every extension ?
Then ofcourse they're are typosquatters

So maybe do the radio test, make a note of all variations and then reg every single extension, don't forget the hyphenated versions aswell

so 300 extensions, your brand plus all variations = eg, 40 x 300 12,000 plus hyphens if applicable ? = only 24,000 at an annual costs of 200k or more ?

Am i just getting carried away, should you just reg .com and .co.uk only then monitor cybersquatters and only take action if neccassary ?

To sum it up - more and more extensions doesn't make it easy !!!

Well it's bad for medium-small sized companies who will get cybersquatted in 10 directions.

However anyone that earns money from pay per click and has the .com or .co.uk version of a live developed new .ext site will be benefitting, free money.

Those that have developed brands and site will lose...

I have both so not really bothered which way it goes, would prefer to stay as it is, less of a headache for all.

The internet started life as a small LAN many decades ago. The web was the brainchild of Tim Berners-Lee - a true Brit

Azooza, that's what i was trying to point out.

Internets where used by the MOD back in the 50s

As for Tim Berners-Lee, i forgot his name, people like him make you proud to be British just annoys me that everything computer/internet related seems to be controlled by the Yanks.

If it wern't for Britain, the world would be in the dark ages
We invented the following :
Computer
Telly
Film studios
Vaccuum cleaners
Trains
HGVs
Hovercraft
Machine guns
Radio
Tyres
Tanks, first being called Little Willy lol
Tin openers
Sub marines
Helicopters
CAT scan
Penycillin
Cinema
Cash machines ( ATMs )
Stamps
Cheques
Ice cream, not the Italians
Circuses, not the Romainians
Boomerangs, not the Australiians
Feel free to Google the above 3
And many many more.

We didn't invent the plane but the Wright brothers based their first successful plane on the work of a British inventer of gliders who performed the worlds first ever heavier than air flight ( Before the wright brothers )
No the Scots don't have claim to the telephone as it says in history books, that claim does belong to an American called Elijyah Gray, scotsman Alexandra Bell paid two men to rob Eliyjahs courier in his way to the patent office ( True ) and handed the paper work in as his own. ( Theif )

Anyway enough ranting !!! just fed up of Brits not getting the credit we deserve because the Yanks take it all. Yanks ( Show some respect )

ps. Thanks for helping us with world war 2 Oh please !!!

Helicopter?? De Vinci, Sikorski?

Problem is that it's a blurred line between inventing something and developing it into what people semantically understand it to be today.

I do see what your saying, but I don't always think it's black and white.

All the best
