Indeed. I generally lend to people in countries where I have been myself and seen the abject poverty first hand. $50 in The Philippines or Indonesia goes a VERY long way and it's relatively little to share with people showing the entrepreneurial spirit, despite desperate conditions.

often like the chuggers! "Charity Muggers"... They do it for money, whilst there are those who give their time and energy for free to pay for these annoying people. If you look into the actual amounts of money that charities get and then give to end users...you might be very very shocked. I often wonder if the best way to make money is to start a charity. My morals get in the way....but it seems not to stop others. |
