How do they do it? ukreg has deal with sedo to park domains on expiry, this domain should have been renewed. whois doesnt show as new so domain hasn't dropped, yet it has changed hands while belonging to me and is now in domcollects name, sedo's sister company. How is it possible that a name I regged, doesnt drop yet gets transferred to a new owner? Isn't that theft or is that how dot coms work? how can registrars transfer expiring domains from owners and whois doesnt update with new years as showing as a dropped domain, as surely if it wasn't dropped, then it should still be mine? Thanks if you can clear this up, silent theft, nothing worse. Dates showing domain never dropped. Updated Date: 20-aug-2008 Creation Date: 30-jul-2004 Expiration Date: 30-jul-2009 Lee |

.com is a scum TLD if I can reg something but registrar gets to do what they want with it if they fail to renew it with me. Imagine if that happened with .co.uk it would be theft, pure and simple. How can I reg a domain, stays in my name, domain never drops but the company it's lodged with, with no rights in it, gets to sell it on? How can a registrar sell something they don't own and never did? if I park my car on your drive does that give you a right to sell it? get it towed away maybe but not sold. Apparantly this is how .com works, theft aplenty and in the rules, ah well, no point losing sleep over it. How can a registrar sell something they never owned and was lodged at their company, surprising how good registrars aren't able to benefit from the bad actions of others and to never sell on domains they don't own. domcollect parasites. sedo parasites. I'm staying out of .com in future, ukreg changes passwords locks me out for months, then makes it impossible to get back in regularly, they're happy making profit out of people who lose their domains because of what they done. Unbelievably crooked. |

Hi Lee, At what stage was the domain e.g. Redemption Period? If they moved the domain out of your account before you had a chance to redeem your domain then yes this thats wrong, only after the redemption period has passed can the domain become available. Also, most registrars once a domain has expired auction them off, or as you've seen they switch hands. Its all about the money when your talking .com registrars... (back hander here, back hander there some say) Hope that helps. Barry

Not particularly bothered, I rant and get it out of my system, this is business, I'll lose domains, I'll get domains and i'll make £10,000 again but not easy with rubbish registrars, not easy when I dont keep money in the bank but I'll be a long time dead when I go while these parasites that get my names are probably stuck in the office 9 to 5. It stinks when the whois dates don't change, I still don't understand why so many registrants allow registrars who paid nothing for the interest in the domain, allow registrars to sell what effectively is their property and not the registrars, shows how dumb the majority of dot com registrants are, including me, surely there's a group opposing this method of theft and profit from no investment made? No lawsuiots that previous registrant 'current registrant' gets a cut or anything from the sale? | |

Mate yours is small chips compared to the theft of sex.com That took years to sort out even though everyone knew it was stolen. http://www.wired.com/techbiz/media/news/2001/04/42835 As much as I criticise Nominet, they don't let these things get out of hand. I stay well away from trades in .com's People doing charge backs on paypal, domain theft and lockings.. It's all one very big mess.

.com is like that film with Samuel L Jackson, Deep Blue Sea. "beneath that placid surface glide monsters".
