I'm on Sky, which is OK, reasonable speed, uncapped but I think they just put the prices up. Had a look at o2 and Be which are cheaper (I think) but they quote me rubbish speeds. Used eclipse before now but their prices stopped being competitive, and after that Easynet (which is the same as Sky now)

![]() | Rob can only have wet dreams about Mr Baker's domains I am also with Fast.co.uk and have been for several years. Never had a cause for complaint. On the odd times I've called their helpline, it's refreshing to get through to someone in the UK - none of this farming it out lark. They are also in the top 10 for ISP's and have been for a long time: ISPreview UK - Independent Internet Service Provider Information Source

I'm with BeThere (owned by o2), Bulldog (owned by Pipex but uses C&W's LLU) and Virgin Media (because it's the only one you can get 20Mbit with *and* it actually functions at 20Mbit in my experience). Why three? I used to have just two because I consider Internet connection redundancy important; should one line go down (BT lines do go down, regardless of whether one pays for TotalCare or not), I still have Internet access. I use a multi WAN router to shape traffic across connections so different traffic goes via different routes, making best use of bandwidth. I got the third connection for the heck of it and haven't bothered to cancel it. In the past I have tried BT, Andrews & Arnold, Eclipse and UKOnline. My parents have since followed my lead and also pay for two connections for their own uses. Broadband isn't quite like dialup, in the sense that if one dialup ISP has problems you can simply disconnect and dial another. Back in the 90s I used Demon and had to switch to Pipex Dial to get decent transatlantic bandwidth on occasions. I miss being able to do that with the invention of broadband on the same line. |

Eclipse. Not as good as before Kingston too over, but still OK. Far too much hassle to look at changing to another provider. | |
