Got this today...

"Our records indicate u maybe entitled to 5000 pounds in compensation for the Accident you had. To claim 4 free reply with CLAIM to this msg. 2 stop txt STOP"

From +447724756797

I could reply with CLAIM but to be honest I don't want some reprensatitive in a call centre trying to sell me something.

Has anyone else had something similar? Does anyone know the company behind this?

I normally get one of those every 1-2 days.

Nothing on Google for the number, all I can tell you is it's an O2 number:

I've had that just the other day, quite eery as I'd just been involved in an accident a few weeks ago!

I get spam messages too. I've never used my phone to vote in nonsense tv shows, never subscribed to any sms service or whatever. I can only assume they send them out to random numbers, either that, o2 are selling numbers to sms marketers.

Unfortunately I can't find a reference for this but I believe they are obliged to respect any STOP message you send, and are legally not permitted to charge for it.
