Money The future of domains...opinions please!

Hi one and all....

Love to know everyone's opinion....

Taking on board another thread re domain name life span.... (On this one I have to add that an alpha numeric domain name will always be better than a number because each character can be a-z 0-9 etc as opposed to just 0-9)

Theoretically... if we all go and grab domains and fill our boots with lovely, short, defining etc names, then joe public... and indeed joe corporate will be in a position of having a crap domain name or have to buy one of ours .... so, with the net on the up and the demand increasing.. (and Wow.. have you seen how few domains are available now!) some large governing body will have to intervene and do something... now what can they do? - well, please add to this but I've got...

1 Limit ownership of domains (e.g. 2 per person)
2 Create new ones... www.xxxx.a , www.xxx.b etc etc
3 Force purchase of unused domains. (can of worms... discuss!)

As investors in the .co.uk as a money making entity how do we make sure that our investments are safe? ... and also can we rely on market forces to steer us in the right direction?

I'd love to know your opinions

Thanks

Will

Question

i'm suprised no one has answered this yet. i'd say it is a good point that govt. could change legislation if domain collectors are reducing the effectiveness and potential of online commerce in the uk economy... i hope they don't do that! will they?

And what happens if I park all my 'unused' domains? Are they then unused?

Lots more questions like that...
