I saw a programme about this a year or so ago. The snake tried to eat the already dead alligator, but when it digested it the alligator swelled and ultimately the snake exploded. They discovered that the alligator had been in a fight and died, I seem to remember something about a missing tooth which explained it all, but I can't remember the details.
