Google Keyword Tool - Anomaly

How can a word on Google Keyword Tool have 60K exact local but only 50K exact global for the same month?
  • Is this just an example of the potential unreliability of this tool?
  • Are the global and local figures calculated differently?
  • Or have people being doing anti-matter searches to cancal out the normal searches?!!

there is lots of trading of domains on the strength of the reliability of this tool, unfortunately it is a long way from reliable.

i have had non seasonal domains come up with 45,000 one month and the following month 300 which just wouldn't happen.

I booked FlightsToIstanbul/co/uk at the public catchers on the strength of the keyword tool, in retrospect I should have looked more closely.

49,500 Local
22,200 Global

If you're referring to the two columns, local & global, then yes they are calculated differently. The global figure is an average over the last 12 months, so adjusts any seasonal variations, the local value is for the previous month.

Or do you mean when changing between 'All countries and territories' and 'United Kingdom' searches?

Quote:
Local Search Volume: [Last Available Month]
This column shows the approximate number of search queries matching each keyword result. This statistic applies to searches on Google and the search network in the most recent month for which we have data.
Quote:
Global Monthly Search Volume
This column shows the approximate average monthly number of search queries matching each keyword result. This statistic applies to searches performed on Google and the search network over a recent 12-month period
