Private Reg Plates

Hi Guys,

Who of you has a personal reg plate? Do you see them as investments or things that just look good?

I have just purchased my first private reg plate after alot of difficulty.

What was the difficulty DB, was it a private purchase, or through the likes of NewReg etc? A mate is just about to do the latter through them, would be interesting to hear if this approach is problematic or not.

Well.... last year i was told dvla would be releasing the F plates on a first come first serve basis *(they apparently do this every year this year will be G)

I went to well known company to secure the plate in question, they told me on that particular day they have over a 100 staff calling securing all the best plates.. I thought it was mine in the bag.. so after taking a couple of thousand of me i sat back waiting for the call it was mine....

No call came and after a few days I called them to be told they were beaten by a ramdom guy sat in his house for it... they had to give me a full refund.. anyway 2 month later I am looking on there website and the same plate is there for 17.5k!!! what!!.. ok so I called them up and they told me its not theirs and some guy has just listed it with them for sale.. (all a bit fishy) ..

Anyway the price keeps falling by the week and it ends up being a thousand over than what i originally paid.. I called last week made a cheeky offer and it was accepted.. just waiting for plates to arrive..

Not sure if they were trying to get as much out of me as possible .. sounds that way.. anyway LBE has a plate in there auction if your wondering who they are

I got mine when the F's came out DB

The phone lines were so jammed that I had to constantly hit redial for about 3 hours. Anyway, got F6 MAT in the end for £1k which is certainly a good investment at that price.

F6 is also the shortcut to the URL/Domain bar, which is what I tell people its for but really it was the fact that by the time I got through other Mats had taken up to number 6
