A cat is the most humane way of getting rid of them, they smell the cat and pee off. Obviously one or two will be sacrificed in the early days but they aren't dumb and will quickly pack their bags. But if they are their in that number already, I don't think you are going to get rid of them with mouse traps.

Used to live in an old victorian terraced house years ago, with two cellars opening out to land at the rear (the property was on a hill). Little bastards were getting in the house all the time. Like you say, they shit, piss, chew, gnaw, scurry and do just about everything else to grind you down. Take it from me, there ain't any rules to stick by with these sods, a kill is a kill mate. If you want a method to stop them coming in the house in the first place, those old pint sized milk bottles you used to get off the milkman (all under 30's now scratching their heads) were effective. Bury them near the edges of your property at about 30° off vertical with the mouth sticking out of the ground by about 1", throw some pieces of bread in the bottle, and leave. The fuckers dive in for the food, and can't run up the glass surface to get back out again. Check every 2-3 days, pull out their rigid little carcasses with a bend coat hanger, then throw in some more grub for the next sucker! The only answer for inside the house is a fishing chair and a gat gun! |

If you think having mice is bad imagine having a pigeon scared out of its mind flying around your kitchen as you try to catch it - there were feathers everywhere.

Had the same problem years ago in my parents house - old 17c stone cottage. Only solution was metal traps. Always this time of year when they're starting to come out of hibernation. S
