Question .net are they worth bothering with?

I have seen a couple of product based .net's both with nearly 20,000 exacts free to reg, and I am wondering whether they are worth bothering with? Both are for pretty high price items.

How would you rank the top 5 extensions these day's for the uk?

1?
2.?
3.?
4.?
5.?

Must admit, never really consider them when it comes to buying domains. They don't really have a strong identity: .coms are for companies, .org (in theory) for charities, NGOs and the like... but what are .nets for?

Anyway, my rankings:

1. .co.uk
2. .com
3. .org
4. .info
5. .org.uk

Last two could probably be interchanged.

Mike.

From a brand perspective away from domaining, I register .net third after .co.uk and .com.

From a domain trading perspective, I generally stick to .uk domains, as I know the market better and you can resell at any time, rather than the 60 day restriction of TLDs.

1. .co.uk
2. .com
3. .co.uk hyphenated or .net (but generally not for resale, only to develop)
4. I wouldn't bother below here

Weird how ext's falls, 10 years ago they weren't far off par with .com's. If memory serves they priced them out of the market I think, something like £35 when .coms and .co.uk's were £6'ish.

I think .co.uk, .com, .net, .org.uk (on-par with hyphen .co.uk), .org

I am seeing a little more in .org.uk and until about a month ago I only owned half dozen now I own a dozen or so

Bought & sold a few .net for x,xxx but they have to be strong products or services, have to be strong though to get passive interest.

It's interesting to see .org.uk above .org TLD for some people.
I'd have thought that given some of the high value .org sales in recent years (compared to .org.uk) that it would have a better opinion from most on here.

Just intersting to see others view points.

Personally .net I think was supposed to be the .com equivalent but has lost popularity over the years. For a brand identity .net is third for me as most said. For resale then it would HAVE TO be strong keyword (1 or 2 keyword combos) or strong generic to consider.
