I play electric guitar, it's a great way to relax. I'm not great, but I really enjoy it. Have you just started playing then, or have you been playing other guitars?

I used to play a bit as a teen, but my family do play, the boys are both doing guitar lessons, my daughter plays flute in the local Saturday morning windband and her school band and the wife plays a baritone sax.

Most of my music involvement is now from behind the mixing desk as my technical ability far outweighs my playing capability

I tried, but I'm too impatient, I wanted to shred not play chords!

I'm vaguely notorious for playing guitar - I also play other things, less competently.

Turn the violin on it's side, you'll be able to get a few power chords if you try hard enough

Acksherly, Stradivarius made guitars as well, and he made half a dozen violins that were exactly guitar shaped - one of them survives.

Just started, going to be fun learning. I do play keyboard though and can read music so I've a chance of survival. I'm also lucky enough to have lots of guitar friends in bands. Think I need to get used to bending my wrist in to unfamiliar positions before anything else.

You should be able to pick it up fairly quickly. I can't read music, but I bought several RHCP tab books and there are plenty of websites that help out with learning songs. I can play quite a lot of the chili's songs, particularly under the bridge, but I don't really have anough time to practice them and learn many others. The way I learned was to use the tab books, but also to learn lots of chords because then you can start playing your own thing. It also trains your wrist and you quickly learn good positioning.
