![]() | RIP Norman Wisdom
Well, as a mid-century guy, I was sad to hear of Sir Norman Wisdom's death today. Growing up in the era of the Beatles etc, his innocent humour was what we had in those days, and I for one thought he was great through my 'then' childs eyes. Yes, he was far different to the 'happening' types we see on the telly today (or whatever you would call them), but he was a super-fit entertainer who was loved by millions. His trip up before the Queen when receiving his Knighthood (sadly not on YouTube) was classic! He'll be looking down on us now, with Mr Grimsdale. |

I would love to see the trip before the queen. I remember many a saturday morning watching his films, especially the milk factory one, fantastic. |

The best stuff was the "Sunday Night at the London Palladium" shows on TV - basically just Norman and Bruce Forsyth (who is also a nice guy, although he keeps you waiting when you knock on the door while he fits his syrup). Mind you, they had some class acts on Sunday Night at the London Palladium. I don't remember much about the performances, but I can remember seeing a lot of demised people on there, like Edith Piaf and Sophie Tucker. WTH I was once introduced to Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee ... if it is namedropping time ... I loved Norman, but then, everybody loved Norman ... |

RIP - He used to live a few miles from me and was often seen in his Rolls Royce.
