domain deletion question

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help.

Say for instance a domain went over its drop date, and some time afterwards it was manually deleted by the person who had access to it.

If the domain was then caught and sold on, should the domain have been deleted in error or by any other means, would they have a right to it back?

Like the person who lost oyster, did he get it back for instance?

Nominet do give caught domains back to previous owners but the previous owner has to prove that it was dropped due to an error - which is usually them paying a registrar for the renewal and them not renewing it or similar.

I doubt that claiming you clicked delete and confirmed the deletion in error would work but I guess it depends on the circumstances.

I can confirm Grants outline.

A domain registered and correctly renewed by me (verfied by Nom) has been re-assigned to me. I understand the losing holder has been informed and the domain reflects my correct ownership. However, I've left the domain on the losing servers with their site - just seems the right thing to do for the time being.

That's almost too kind of you. There web site trades under another URL so I would park it up or sell them from a b and q affiliate or something.
