Yep that was vert shocking indeed.

I must admit every time i watch a Airshow it does cross my mind quickly that something like that might happen, but then again i hate flying.

It's possible that more may die as several are seriously injured. I agree with you though, watching the various videos and this picture, you'd think that many more would've died.

I know people like these air shows and showing off the aircrafts and skills of the pilots, but whenever something like this happens, it seems like such a pointless waste of life.

Domain Trader Rating:
(100% / 105)
it is shocking and horrific for all the people involved

but tbh i would be more shocked if went 6 months without an airshow crash
its just such a regular occurrance

when you get people pushing machines to the limit and add showboating, guess what happens.
mechanical failure could be at fault but when you look at how rare aircraft crashes are normally, one of safest forms of tranport, it seems a very high correlation of crashes at airshows

dont know what answer is, but pulling off low level stunts near a crowd is asking for trouble

red arrows' pilots are THE best in the world. hands down. even they had a crash other week, although due to that pilot's bravery no-one else was hurt. also i think that was mechanical failure
not just saying that as he was a Brit

Word is bird strike on that one mate...

It also happened a few days before to another red arrows pilot who had an emergency landing at Blackpool.

Least with the UK airshows the planes are all kept away and flying away from the crowds. So if things go wrong, they are normally going to avoid the crowds. I think there is footage from the Ukraine one a few years ago with a Mig that killed 70+.

Looked a bit too good to be true, just seen they now announced it has risen to 9.

These planes are 70 years old and have their engines tuned to hell which means they're probably going faster than the planes were meant to go.

Saw them on a Jeremy Clarkson programme a few years ago - must be great to watch, but this was the 5th crash in 4 years - if they're still going next year I bet the crowds are twice the size.
