Quite shocking news coming out of Wales....

BBC and Sky both went on the source being the Welsh FA website alone. Was hoping it had been hacked but looks true.

this doesnt make sense

only 42, good looking, highly respected, distingusihed career, in good health.
married, 2 kids
very young national manager, 4 wins out of 5

i know we never know what goes through peoples minds or in their lives but in the big scheme of things he had led a very priveleged life
self made and hats off to him but when looking around world he must have realised he had a great life?

what a waste

Very sad that someone who apparently had everything going for him should be in such turmoil inside. Tragic.

He seemed to have it all. You never quite know what's going on in a person's mind do you. So tragic for him and his family. A great loss.

very sad news, at such a young age and so much more to give to football. As others have said, never know whats going on in someone elses life. RIP

literally woke up one day and realised football doesnt really mean a toss outside a bit of fun and had dedicated his whole life to it and saw what really happens in the pro world and how all the supporters piss all their money away and a few get very rich
yet found himself at the top and all he could do was live eat and breath the stuff
just had a major brain fart and lost it. who knows
he did seem to be one of the rare breed of model professionals in the game though, respected by everyone. can't think of anything bad to say about the bloke

Very sad news. Feel for his wife and kids.

If one good thing can come of his death it's that depression will be taken more seriously by sections of society who currently view it as an act of self-indulgence or self-pitying.

The fact that Gary Speed did have everything shows that it is a very real physical illness - one that should be talked about more openly in society and is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
