Question Losing weight

I'm having a weight loss challenge against my brother - biggest percentage lost by the end of January.

I'm going all out for a win - anyone got any tips for drastic blubber loss? Am willing to jepordise my health but will draw the line at amputation.

good old cardio! just go to a park, sprint as fast as you can for one minute, then walk for 30 seconds, then sprint for 30 seconds, walk for one minute, then repeat. Interval training is the best for weightloss!

I lost a stone and a half in 6-8 weeks last year by cutting calorie intake to around 1,400 per day (1 day up to around 2,000 calories so your body doesn't get too used to the drop too quickly - otherwise you'll diminish the amount you lose).

Limit carb and fat intake and increase protein (will help you keep fuller longer). Boiled eggs are great (although wife was NOT thrilled) so I swapped to a protein shake.

I was able to do some light exercise too.

In four weeks you could shed close to a stone, but will take around 10 days to start seeing results.

Have a read of the weight loss articles from this guy (there are 3 I think)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bendirs/2...riend_tol.html

And then buy the programme he follows.

I have followed it and it works, basically go carb free, visit a gym twice a day (at night and first thing in the morning) and eat 4 meals a day at 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm.

Do a combination of weight training and interval training to maximise the weight loss

Low Carbs, High Protein (Protein is harder to digest so the body works harder and burns more calories)

Eat regular small meals rather than a few large ones during the day, it will keep your body fueled up which in turn will keep the metabolism in first gear.

Add that to some decent cardio work and you should see a big difference. (Skipping is one of the best exercises going, it works more muscles than jogging and can be done almost any where)

Avoid any carbs after 6PM

Good Luck

Thanks guys - I like some of these - always prefered protein to carbs so no hardship there...

I read that Gok Wanka lost about 10 stone in a few months by living off a few spoons of honey a day, I was thinking of going one better, maybe supergluing my lips together?

Deffo don't go in famine mode mate. By not eating your body will slow its metabolism down and hold on to any bits of fat in food when you next eat, because it will store it should you go in famine mode again!

Seriously eat small amounts regular making sure it has very few carbs in. If you drink tea or coffee with sugar cut the sugar out, have low fat milk.

The other thing If you like a beer lol, reduce that too its full of empty calories

Official weigh is on Wednesday - I'll be north of 17 stone (yeah, I know...a porker) 5 foot ten, stocky build underneath the bark. Should probably be about 12.5 - 13 stone.

Always been prone to putting weight on but I've steadily put on 3 to 4 stone since stopping smoking a few years back.

I'm 43.

Suggys - not so much beer, but partial to a bottle of claret a night - I know that's got to go, top of the list!
