Parking with popups...

I visited a few sites today whereby the domain name was parked at Sedo but, in addition to the standard parking pages, a popup window appeared. It was advertising loans.

A bit of digging revealed that the owner had their own DNS entries and, when a visitor views their site, they serve the popup and then redirect to the parking page.

This could be done by anybody with Sedo, Namedrive or any other parking co.

Just wondering if anybody else does this and whether it pays off? I know popups are a menace but they must work in some circumstances otherwise nobody would bother.

Any thoughts?

I believe pop-ups aren't allowed by domain parking T&C.

Sedo recently started to test pop-unders, though.

So I think, if their advertising partners allow them to do this, they might allow us to create own pop's using methods you described.

And then you have to test whether and how it pays off.. as its surely depends on what kind of traffic / ad you have.

Part of an email from sedo when asking about t&c:

Such contraventions would include, but are not exclusive to:

* clicking yourself
* using scripts or other automatic means to generate clicks
* using pop-ups
* incentivized clicks
* anything that does not result from natural traffic

i hate pop ups (and unders) when i visit any web site.

But i supose if sedo added it to their system and it increased the money in my account who am i to complain

i wonder how much control you would have over the pop ups / under eg:

* how many pop up
* what size they are (eg 300px by 300px / full screen)
* what they display

also i wonder how much we would make extra per click.

I hate pop-ups/unders too. I also hate parking pages. I never click on any of them.

But not everyone is like me. Many people do click on them. So on that basis I'd be happy to try it out...

3cats can only hope to improve

domainhop.com give your parking page a pop-under. You can also have the pop-under be another one of your parking pages.

Thumbs up Trafficparking.com

Hi Guys,

If you are a fan of pop-ups or pop-unders you should give: www.trafficparking.com a whirl as you have full control over both. (can even turn them off etc, its up to you!

Example parking pages:
www.affiliates.co.uk
www.datesdirect.com
www.jackpots.co.uk
www.creditloan.co.uk

Images change depending on domain cat etc, works well.

Only a thought guys.

Take Care.

Barry
