Whypark is now free

Just spotted this morning - Whypark is now free for the basic service, with $10 per month and $25 per month options for extra features.

I hope they'll offer something nice as "compensation" to those of us who paid $100 for an account previously

Cheers, Jon

Speaking as a businessman, I don't see any reason why they should compensate those who paid. I bought Asus 1000H netbook a month ago, its now dropped £80 quid, do I demand money back ?

Speaking as a consumer and someone who will happily never use a company again if they do something that smells bad. It would go along way to offer a good will gesture, maybe an account upgrade for 6 months for those on the $10 a month package, and a few months free for those on the $25 one.

I would certainly be pissed if I had paid in the last 6-8 weeks and expect compo

I think you hit the nail on the head. There's no reason they should offer anything, but it would be a nice gesture to those of us who put faith in them early, and stuck with them through all the recent problems (which now seem to be getting resolved)

Cheers, Jon

Update - Parked.com has acquired Whypark. Interesting!

(And in the WP thread on NP someone had a response to an email to WP support detailing what extras existing paying customers would get)

Latest update

In their FAQ this is what existing 'paid for' customers will get:

I paid to have a WhyPark account setup, but now it's free. What are you doing for those customers who have paid?
We value the customers who have helped make the WhyPark platform what it is today. As a customer prior to this acquisition, you'll enjoy the following grandfathered benefits as a "thank you":
  • Change to support an unlimited number of sites in your WhyPark account.
  • A 10% higher advertising revenue share
  • A lifetime discount on managed and promotional services of 10%. If you are currently an Enhanced subscriber, your discount will be increased from 5% to 10%
  • The ability to continue to choose between the new WhyPark enhanced feed or use your third-party ad code. New standard accounts will not be able to use third-party ad code
  • The ability to customize the HTML and CSS of layouts. New standard accounts will be able to choose from our template gallery only.

Great News

I think that is very fair and am pleased with their gesture for exsisting customers.

Gestures like this go a long way

Does anyone have any feedback re using their paid for services?
I'm keen to see what folk think as I'm pondering using them.

Do your websites have traffic that has been as a result of paying for the privilege or, did your domains already have links / traffic that no matter where you parked them they'd get hits?

thanks

I'm interested in that question too. I've been thinking about the $10 per month option, mainly to be able to add an RSS feed to sites.
