Getting the most from parking

Some may know this and others may not so here goes...

Type-ins do not consist of just people typing the domain address directly into the address bar.

It has always amazed me how many people will type your domain address into the search box of a search engine, there are a lot of people still, that don't realise you can use the address bar and think you can only get to a site from a search engine.

If you want more people to your parking pages then you need to get them in the search engines.

Another thing that will get you extra traffic is showing up for the domain name without the extension. Quite a few people search for phrases without using spaces, why I have no idea, but it happens

All you need to get any domain into the search engines is a couple of links from sites that are ranked.

As an example I have a domain kitchenworktops.co.uk you can get there by typing it into the address bar or like this, this or this

it is good yes to get your domains in the search engines, but what way do members recomend you get them there. would it do any harm to say list your top 100 domains on a site that has a pr of 2 or higher

So your post not only listed your domain from a high pr site but also got people to click on the links

Domain Popularity: http://www.kitchenworktops.co.uk
PageRank: 2/10
Alexa Rank: Unranked

Link Popularity: help
Incoming Google Links: 0
Incoming Yahoo Links: 6
Incoming MSN Links: 3
Incoming Alexa Links: 0
DMOZ Listed: No
Archive.org Listed: No

Sedo said that about your domain - was it a drop or regged from fresh,

and if the latter then did you get all that pr and those links manually?

(you don't have to answer anything, I'm just curious)

It's a nice domain btw.

Hi Aqls,

That was not my intention, and I didn't link to it anyway I linked to the search results just to show people what I meant.

I only got into domains about a year ago, because I needed a few to develop, my background is in building sites so I have seen many many log files over the years and I see this happening all the time, people search for your domain name, why I just can't understand but it happens.

When you look at the overture results and you find a domain with extension listed with a number of searches, some people think this is the number of times people type the domain into the address bar and think if they register it they will get all those hits and more. But of course it's the number of times people have entered that domain into the search box, so if your domain is not in the search engines you won't actually pick this traffic up.

I just wanted to point it out to people who didn't understand, nothing more and nothing less

It was one I caught on the drop and this particular one had a couple of links already so no need to add more unless I want it to score higher for the two words separately ie kitchen worktops, it's ranked about 200 and something for the separate two word phrase so would be quite easy to get somewhere near the top with a little work

G normally reset your PR to 0 for all parked pages.. and when domain marked as parked it obviously affects your SERPS position.

it's just a matter of time.

Momentum will become famous soon enough

True.

Google is very good at removing parked websites from their index. Of course it is very easy for them to do this. They recognize certain ip addresses and nameservers, ignore the site and keep on crawling.

Just wondering how Sedo manage to get their pages listed in Google. See so many Sedo parked pages at the top of Google rankings.

Which are the best parking services which allow customisation of sites via meta-tags etc. and hence allow sites to be listed in the search engines?
