The company I work for owns environment co uk and my boss is trying to put a value on it. Not to sell but more as a company asset value.
I think it's a top domain but not sure of the value as I wouldn't know what to do with it. I've told him to get an appraisal at sedo but I'm curious now.

You are correct, it _is_ a top name. I would suggest something like £80,000

I was thinking circa £50k. They have a project underway for developing it so hopefully that will increase it's value.

A hot subject in todays market place.

Consider that, although, not the same area directly, recycle.co.uk sold for £150,000.

I would agree with Fire's estimate, high £xx,xxx

    Rich

Very nice domain indeed, certainly mid-high £xx,xxx if it ever came up for sale in the near future.

Nice domain but i'm not sure what it could be used for in a commercial sense if wanting to make money from it?

Im confused with what you mean. You have just been given 3 appraisals of it.

Im not sure that anyone outside of this forum is better placed to provide a figure for resale.

No offence intended but I don't know your qualifications. I just wanted some more appraisals to get an average. I just wondered if there was a well known or respected site/company that does them? The ones i've looked up seem to over inflate.

And with regards to the appraisals on here would you say that it would sell easily at that price or would you wait a long time to find a suitor?

Also a lot of domains that are quoted as sold had sites attached. How do yu know what was for the site and what was for the domain? e.g. recycle was sold with a site so technically the domain didn't sell for x amount.

None taken. There are many years of experience on this forum, perhaps we can ask a few more to give us their opinions?

Please dont pay for an apprasial, they are not worth a bean. The domain is worth what ever someone is prepared to pay for it. Experience would tell me that IMO, I value the domain at approx £80k, the following two posters were also valuing it around this mark.

How long is a price of string? It may go for £80k to an end user tomorrow, its impossible to say.

Well you dont, unless you ask the purchaser exactly what they were paying for. With recycle, the buyer suggests that it was the domain they were after and not the site, for others, it may be the reverse.

Try the Sedo Premium appraisal if you want something down in writing. They give you 10 pages of factors that make it worth what it is.

But again.... No appraisal is perfect.

If the appraisal is required for the domain as a company asset, there must be some precedence as to how this should formally be done. Ask your accountant as he's the one that'll have to sign off on it unless he adds a rider/qualification to your accounts.

The Sedo ones are utter bollocks.

I recently paid for a 3 day return, it turned up after 4-5 working days :) It was a internet tech domain ... say hosting.co.uk or the like. Their 'comparitive sales' did not include stuff like Webspace.co.uk , Servers.co.uk etc most of the ones they handled as well.

Utter joke, almost as comical as their pricing for them $50 or 50E , as that is the same :)

Personally I would say posting here is quite a good way of doing it, or pay someone who has a track record to make an 'official' one if required for more formal purposes.

It is a great one, I would agree with that ballpark.
