    Some advice please

I am developing a site that I have already purchased the following extensions for

    .co.uk
    .org.uk
    .eu
    .info

The domain name is a two word domain.

I have been unable to get in touch with the owner of the dot com but have been offered the dot com of a hypened version.

Do you think it is worth me buying this? The owner is asking for $800 for the pleasure.

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

It all depends on what sector and how popular the domain name is, plus if you are trying to build a brand or sell the domains on as a package at a later date ?

Too many variables to be able to answer correctly :-D

    Thanks for the reply.

I think I will buy it as I can't have the non-hypenated dot com:)

Do you own the hyphened versions of .co.uk .org.uk etc?

If it was me i would keep on trying to get hold of the owner of the non hyphenated version.

Yes I own the hyphenated versions of the .co.uk and .org.uk

I really don't think I have any hope of contacting the owner of the dot com as the registrant is Moniker Privacy Services whom I have now emailed several times with no reply. I have checked for old versions of a site to try and find a contact with no joy either.

Hence my theory is its better to have the hyphenated dot com that no dot com at all:)

Must be a very strong name if the hyphened is worth $800. What is the .com "doing" right now? Sitting parked with no "make offer"?

Yes - the dot com is indeed parked with no ability to make an offer. Any idea why people do this? Surely they would prefer to get offers? Or maybe someone is planning to develop a site for it?

Wow! Just got a reply from the registrant of the dot com and they are looking for offers of at least $100,000. If I had that amount of money I certainly would not be spending it on a domain name that is 2 words. I have asked them if they would like to buy my hyphened version if the dot com from me:)
