Looking to change my current phone/contract to another, and have seen a few nice phones for sale that look like they'd be good to get to use for browsing the internet etc..

I can recommend the Blackberry Bold. Internet is quite good.

Vodafone - Free phone £35 per month: 600mins 1000+ Texts, Unlimited Email and Internet. (24 Month Contract)

That said I am no fan of touchscreen phones and like a decent keypad.

I don't think you can beat an iPhone for browsing. Was worried about going touchscreen but it does work well.

iPhone (the original) was great until you put it in your pocket.

I got one the day it came out, played with it for about 5 hours, then put it in my pocket for about an hour then came to use it and guess what ?

    The bloody screen wouldnt work.

I went straight to the carphone warehouse, and magically it was working when they tried it.

So off i went, by the time I got home it wasnt again.

I worked out over a day or so that IF i put the phone in my pocket with the screen facing my leg the heat warmed the screen up and the screen being heat sensitive meant it stopped working.

How about you try bluetoothing a file to another phone ?

Picture Message anyone ? well anyone but the iPhone uers.

How about make a video clip ? no ?

The phone is kinda like a kinder egg, the ads look good the box looks good, the toys look cool, but its always a disappointment.

Internet speeds not too bad and I have turned 3G off (Poor signal in my area).

Keyboard is a dream and should be fine even with big fingers - best thing though is to go into a Voda shop they tend to have these on the try before you buy table.

Despite its obvious deficiencies with video and MMS stuff, I think the iPhone has the internet experience well sorted. The O2 iPhone contracts are cheap as well and include free internet and WiFi. Actually, MMS does work after a fashion (receiving) - you just have to browse to a URL which is sent via text. The smart money is on the next version of the iPhone having all this stuff fixed.

There are a fair few things wrong with the iphone, but having one now for a month not sure I could live without it. How sad is that!

Yeah! One strange thing is that I have never used video or MMS on any phone so I don't miss it. Well, video maybe once just to record something of the TV.
