Hi, what would you say the best options are, I have a couple of cases where members have bought domians off me, I received payment and sent the transfer from Nominet immediately within minutes, pushed the domains to their accounts on 123-reg and changed tag on the other one, then 5 days later I get emails from Nominet saying the transfers were not completed within 5 days, and I need to send the transfers again.

So I contact the buyers on here via PM, they apologis, saying they have been busy, not online or whatever reason, please send the transfer again, which I do straight away, only to find that they have still not been accepted days later, and I will soon be getting more emails from Nominet saying, transfer not completed within 5 days, send again blah blah blah.

I really can't be arsed going round in circles chasing people up via PM, resending transfers and still not having them accepted, it's just wasting my time. I'm now thinking to myself, well, you've had 2 chances to accept them, I don't want them in my Nominet account just on the off chance that something dodgy was done with them, very unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

I notice there is a Cancel Domains button in my Nominet online services, would it be acceptable for me to cancel any domains from my Nominet account where the buyer is constantly not accepting the transfer? What would you do?

    cheers.

Cancelling the domain will make it drop so that's not a good idea.

Yeah, that's the reason I would want to cancel it, so that it's dropped and out of my account, sounds like a good idea to me. I mean, how many chances do you have to give someone to accept, 3, 4, 5, 6?, I'm not going to keep on resending the transfer every 5 days until they can be bothered to accept it, how busy can a person be, takes a minute to read their email and accept the transfer. If they don't accept them this time, the transfers will be sent for a 3rd time, but if they don't accept them at the 3rd attempt, I will cancel the domains.

If it was me, I'd just leave them in my Nominet account. When they expire, I'd then let them drop ...... or I might consider renewing and reselling!

In the future, when selling .uk domains, just stick with the Nominet transfer, which will sort the TAG change for you. ;)

It is a bad idea to let strangers take control of domains that are still registered to you, Tag change will happen during transfer anyway.

From what you say, the buyers may prefer not to complete the transfer. We have experienced this and now have terms (from our lawyer) to avoid such situations, and to deal with them if they can't be avoided.

Be aware that a buyer could make a claim against you if you are unable to transfer a domain, even months or years later.

That's the thing, I don't want them sitting in my Nominet account for the next 20 odd months, I hate messy accounts, when something is bought, I like it to be cleared and gone.

    Ok, cheers for the advice.

I don't get that bit , the domain will still be registered to me until they accept the transfer and then it changes the registrant details to theirs, so when they take control of the domain, how is it still registered to me? Unless they don't acept the transfer, in which case, as per my post above, I could simply cancel the domains so that they are dropped and not registered to me any more.

Why would someone pay for a domain/s and then not want to complete the transfer, seems a bit pointless. The buyers are trusted members on here, so I doubt it's anything to be worried about, but at the same, I want the domain transfers completed so I don't have stuff hanging about in my account.

Yeah, I suppose they could, and I would tell them to go whistle, they had ample opportunity to transfer the domains, sending the transfer once is normal, a 2nd time is alright if someone is busy or has good reason, but a 3rd or 4th time? if they lose the name due to me cancelling the domain, that's their problem, not mine, I wont lose any sleep over it.

@ Philipp, that has no correlation to what's going on here, completely different scenario.

By the way, if i have a delivery coming, I'm in to receive it, I wouldn't like wasting a delivery drivers time, same if I had bought a domain, I would accept the transfer straight away as well, nobody can be too busy to continuously not check their email account and click a button to accept! And they can't even be that busy, both buyers were logged in this evening, but not a peep out of either.

So what do you suggest? The transfer has been sent twice already, as well as having to send repeated PM's, now 2 more domain transfers will need to be sent if they are not acepted very soon, if they don't accept those, what, I have to send them more PM's, more chasing up and further transfers, when will it end?

It's pissing me off running around after people chasing them up, shouldn't have to do it, everything at my end is completed within minutes of receiving payments, if people want to dawdle, then they run the risk of me cancelling the domains so that they drop, I can only give people so many chances, what if they are still not accepted after 6 attempts, keep sending

    [edit]

Just checked my email account associated with Nominet, and one buyer must have read this topic, because one transfer has now been accepted :)

"Mr Customer, further to the repeated attempts to facilitate the delivery of your goods, and the continued goodwill afforded to you, specifically the storage costs of these goods in our warehouse awaiting collection. It is costing us money to store these at our facility. Without prejudice to the right to an adequate storage rate or to a fair compensation for the losses caused, failure to collect or timely remove the goods will be grounds for termination of the contract."

@ DoubleTap, read my last post made while you were posting yours.

Yeah, and that works both ways, I'll charge the buyer £10 for every tranfer attempt they fail to collect whislt storing their domain name in my account, and if they still don't collect after a certain time, I'll destroy the goods.

A mod can lock this if they want, cheers.

That's what I was alluding to, upcoming renewal costs, hosting costs, extra costs incurred by you re-attempting transfer, all out of your pocket.

Maybe you are obliged to refund minus expenses, however your not obliged to renew the damn thing, so once it drops, it drops, his/her loss. Pain keeping it in your account that long, but it'll go eventually.

@ DoubleTap, sorry, thought you were writing it in the same vein as Philipp did, as in, from the buyers perspective.

Anyway, one down, one to go, I'll send them one last PM to tell them to accept the transfer. I reported my initial post and asked a Admin/Mods to lock this up.
