Oh my god, I have just started the process of transfering a domain name from uk2.net and can't believe how diificult they make it. I have been with them for 9 years and have given them thousands over the years, it makes me sick!!

First of all, the 15 quid fee, ok, it was probably there in the terms and conditions so that is life, but as I have now decided to start transfering all my names (just because they make it difficult to do so, if it was easy, I would stay with them!!) its gonna cost a lot of cash, so I will probably be droppinf quite a few over the next year.

The bit that really gets me though is the transfer process, all I need to do is unlock the name and get a code. I have done this with domain monster and even 1and1 with no problem. The uk2.net method is unbelivable and involves faxing my passport!! and waiting days??

The guy who I have sold my domain name to can't believe it either.

Please UK2.net make this an automated process like most of the other companies, this one little (LARGE) thing has now made my mind up to move from you.....

So now I need to know where do I move my .co.uk domain names to? I have a godady account that I will probably use for the .coms.

    Any suggestions guys?

Also what is the bulk nominet thing, not sure I understand, I can transfer all my .co.uk names for just one fee at nominet??

    thanks for reading guys

Thats the way to do it, I did that when leaving them, bulk for one fee. Don't know whether there is a bulk transfer amount cap at Nominet...someone else will know.

The Nominet page here says you can transfer all domains in your account for one fee: Mass Transfers

Also see their transfer FAQ here: Transfer FAQ

OK, thanks for the nominet info, will have to look into it. Now where is the best place to put those .co.uk names????

You know, I though uk2.net were quite good until this one little thing, it is such a shame they do this, now I have to move 300 names!! No dubt it will be a long slow process :-(

Are you sure? I don't have any real experience of GoDaddy but I sold a co.uk domain a while back to someone and he wanted to put in his GD account but came back and told me later that they don't do transfers in for co.uk's and don't have an IPSTAG. Don't know if that was correct or not so would be nice to know for certain.

If they do what is their TAG?

The Nominet fee is for changing the Registrant, they do not charge for changing the Registrar, so you can change the Registrar online at Nominet for free.

That may not get you out of all the £15s you have agree to pay your Registrar contractually, though. :(

    Regards
