Hands up who has run the TM gauntlet and registered an iPad domain? :D

I tried at 6:20 but was already beaten to ipadinsurance..I was distracted for 10 mins by my daughter crying upstairs.

To be honest I normally avoid TM domains like the plague for just that reason, but could have flipped this one quickly.

yes, they don't have the trademark yet, and don't own a single domain with ipad in.

You don't have to reg a trademark in order to have the rights to it, as long as you can prove you have been trading with that name then you automatically have the rights to it and i think a worldwide media coverage should do the trick.

IMHO it's not worth the hassle of owning a domain related to I-pad

GENERICS ALL THE WAY !!!

You wouldn't think that if you owned iPad.com :D

I'd love it if I had registered the domain some time ago yes. But for those registered after 6PM GMT yesterday - when ipadinsurance/co/uk was, then it's just not worth the risk trading on it (as I said, I just fancied a quick flip - seemed a good idea after a glass of wine!)

It's not a DRS I'd worry about, it's them coming after you for profits and costs. I know Apple have used DRS/UDRP but not actually sure if they have pressed further.

Search for "iphone insurance" on Google.co.uk, by my count 7 out of the top 10 results are violating trademark. All making varying level of coin, all of which Apple could go after.

    All IMHO of course...:)

I agree with you - Fine if you owned something containing iPad for a while depending what you now do with it of course, especially if/when Apple apply for and receive a TM...

Apart from that I'd personally stay clear.

A forum member owns ipad.co.uk and has done since 2004, so maybe pound signs there.

I'm not into TMs myself but people will roll the dice, I think Apple already got iPad.com

They don't seem that interested in the .uk market imho, otherwise they would have bought Apple.co.uk / Mac.co.uk / iMac.co.uk / iPhone.co.uk etc. so I think iPad.co.uk might remain owned by its current owner, although you never know!

I think they would have had apple.co.uk a long time ago if there hadn't been an illustration agency using the domain already.

For sure, but it does kind of prove that they're not that bothered with the .uk market as otherwise they would have stuck 6 figures on the table - Mind you, perhaps they already have and were turned down.

Apple not owning Apple.co.uk in my opinion is nuts...

whos going to hang on to their "i" prefixed domains for a little while longer? :)

i'm sure everyones a little quiet about what their thought are whilst we work out the best ones to register.

how about the ones that got away? What ipad domains have you missed out on?

They actively removed ipod domains from people, to I agree that recent i-pad registrations are on very shaky ground.
