Hi to every body , and thank you for all the advice and smiles i have had reading every bodies diverse thoughts, tech advice, and great humour:D.

This is my first official post but have been watching and reading Acorn domains on and off(depending on regular work load of day job) since 2007.

This is still the best No 1 site for honesty and advice and integrity, regarding domain business without exception, so thank you all you Guys and girls.

My best domain I think financially was my current trading business which I'm still running (xxxxx)

My favourite purchases are from the early 1990's when I got involved in the early web business as it was then, trying !! to explain to companies why they should register there own domain names and the potential for using the "World Wide Web" as a marketing tool, any way cut a long story short, after 2 years I got sick of pitching to faceless Big companies who didn't get it, so started a new business back in my favourite subject designing ergonomic disabled equipment.

My Best domain(s) (which i still have not around to developing or selling) is
www.beer.co.uk and www.plastics.co.uk, and www.steel.co.uk (oh yes and my old name www.webnames.co.uk)

My worst domain decision , mmh! hard one to pick , probably not registering the .com and .net of some of my key generic domain names , and so wished I had more money in 1995/96 to register words relating to travel, wine, and hotels.

Anyway I have rambled on, and looking forward to trying to make my contribution and help keep this great community growing.

I too wish i had more spare ££'s a few years ago, but without any of the knowledge gained here in the last year it may well have been wasted anyway:p

Hi LuckyLuke, thank you , yes i have been approached a few times!!, however in the early days was mainly people trying to see if I would sell it for a few quids, but after a bit I shut off the email facility as I have approaching 500 domain names, mainly all generic or vertical industry related. The amazing thing is how few try old snail mail to contact, any way that is another story, when i have more time I will try to list some more of my favourites. I have had a think about another worst decision here goes. If you understand the value of trademarks? I came up with the idea of XBOX just after demon.co.uk first launched, used it as my email in those days as @xbox.demon.co.uk way before microsoft, then moved house had loads of hassle with dial up via demon, so changed my email , but didnt proceed with registering it as a co.uk and com and a uk trademark as i usually do!! I felt gutted when i heard th enews that MS were launching a new games product called XBOX !!!
So nowadays I am much more careful and wiser when i come up with new names.

Anyway to answer your first question(God, this forum is begining to resemble for me an AA meeting, confession time)

I have been approached about beer and steel etc, yes I am considering finally selling them , just having read so much about SEDO and problems with them I am not sure where best place is to maximise an eventual sale price, i was approached by letter by Rick Latona group, has anybody here sold via them? and what is their experience please.

Hi Doodlebug, thank you and I have read many of your posts, and learned a lot from you guys.

Yes I am real, and teh same registant etc, and a bad speller (slightly dislexic!) whcih has made for teh occasional amusing incorrect domain being registered !!!

I have lately being trying to amass my collection of domains, trademarks back to one sole address, as have lost a few key domains by accident and kicked myself for not being attentive enough.

By the way was/IS my profiel the correct place to list some/all of my collection?

Thanks ScottJ, I just had a look at your selfmademinds.com site, very interesting articles, I can see I am going to get shot by "my other half" over coming weeks for being attached to my computers for even more hours especially late into the night, where have you found the best place to offer up premium domians for sale, if you don't mind me asking?

Premium Sedo sales have a habit of falling through.

Rick Latona, from what I've read will offer you peanuts.

I would say best place to sell is simply contact interested parties and let them make offers.

Rick Latona's a good guy. His auctions reach a lot of people, but I think he'll make no secret of the fact that his audience is mainly US-focused so much more attention on .com.

Your best bet is probably to point them all at a sales site and get somebody to script a simple contact form/database that blocks all enquiries under your asking price for each domain name. With the quality of names you have, you should have dozens of walk-in "lookers" every day, and from there you should be able to close plenty of sales at end-user prices...

    Thanks Edwin

    Thank you Edwin

Yes I did see Rick Latona was mainly .com, one of his guys snail mailed me before a domain event in I think Amsterdam, so I assumed they were looking into doing more European business (i.e. co.uk & .de ).

I had a long look at your www.memorabledomains.co.uk again, you have some great vertical specialist niche sites, and prices are very good value for money, it's amazing still how many small and big specialist businesses spend fortunes on yellow pages, trade shows, yet miss selecting generic domain names to support/lead, signpost future traffic and sales to themselves.

Also a good price band, £2,500 average is quite a no brainer even for small business.

If you don't mind me asking yet another question on the forum, being a newbie registrant on Acorn once one has said hello to everybody as I did is best practice to start posting messages/forum stuff on main site or do i stay in this section for a few days/weeks?

Just curious, but regarding 'steel', who was I V Everson then? Was that an alias or a previous registrant?

    long story doubletap

    Hi Doubletap

its a long story mate, if we ever met would still take ages to explain, as previously said pre-nom and all the twists and turns since 1996 i think we could all write a book.

Out of interest do you regular posters at acorn ever have an annual get together each year anywhere?

Which is the best net industry show to go to in UK?/Europe?

Its Ok for all you fast typists , but some of us are one fingered takes ages to chat in forums and i hate the craze with mobiles over the years for every think to be in unreadable shorthand, my kids drive me mad with it!

Fair enough, it was the same address in the past, presume the VA on OTS has something to do with it maybe?
