Forgive me if I'm a bit behind the SEO times, but I've been busy ...

Does anyone else feel Google has demoted the value of exact match domains in its algorithm approx two weeks ago? Is it the caffeine update? I have had some basic sites on good domains that have been sitting on the first page of Google for the keyphrase term purely because of the exact match domain, but now they are nowhere. They still have good positions on Yahoo and bing though.

    Thoughts?

Some of my generics which sat on the first page of G have gone all together while remaining at number 1 to 10 on the first page of Y

Caffiene does appear to have had an effect, I do still have some SB sites on the first page of G though without updating them, at the same time a proper site I done which I have updated a few times since caffiene launched hasn't climbed at all :?

I have glanced though some posts on webmaster world and I get the impression that there has been some lesser weighting being applied to domain keywords. Having said that I also get the impression that a lot of people think the serps are rubbish so perhaps things will change again soon.

Remember they can't change too much because if people are searching for "Asda" and because Tescos have amazing seo, they come up first, prople will start switching google off.

I haven't noticed a big change but if there is, I'd say they'd soon change it back. Otherwise people will be off to Bing or alike.
