    The answers are actually:

    Reunion
    Macau
    Armenia

    Why?

Réunion: African country and also an old school mates' bash.

Macau: Mac = Scotsman + AU is chemical symbol for gold.

Armenia: An aria is an operatic song and the word contains 'men' which is the 'some people' part.

    My thinking was:

    "old school tie", hence "Tie"land
"Us" is also some people, so Aria containing us = Austria

You're probably right though comparing the two lol :)

Ty, you need to satisfy two parts of the equation in these three. Your Macau was perfect.

In your "old school tie", hence "Tie"land, you're missing the 'get together' part.

In your "Us" is also some people, so Aria containing us = Austria - you have a 't' unaccounted for.

    ;)

Bit of a cryptic crossword guy perhaps aZooZa? Too taxing for me, but impressed by the reasoning though, either you've got it or you haven't I reckon.
