I know this is a big ask but its driving me crazy.

Take wbj.co.uk that never dropped on the 9th, what happens, its status looked that of a drop?

I know of a few examples why they dont drop, but there seems to be a few lately.

Maybe i'm getting my dates wrong?

Generally Nominet won't tell you why things don't drop, occasionally it is a technical issue, sometimes a specific tag doesn't drop (there's been much discussion on this in the past if you search), often a name that doesn't drop will be seen on another tag later or will have been renewed.

All names are equal except the ones that are not :)

I wish Nominet would introduce another status that would indicate "don't waste your time on this" for those domains where there is something going on behind the scenes.

wbj is registered to a limited company, you could check the status of the company, if it is in the hands of receivers, Nominet may be holding the name for them.

    Regards

IMO if the license fee isn't paid it should drop, no exceptions.

Agreed, it's not as though there's no warning of the process, you agree to it when registering and you get notified at renewal, suspension and just before deletion

Given that you never actually own a domain then Nominet can do what they like with it if you havn't paid the fee.

I have had my eye on a domain that has been suspended for almost half a year now! No idea if / when it might drop.

Ask Nominet. They can be very forthcoming and helpful in these situations. Sometimes they need alerting ;)

Decided to go for your advice and they have told me this particular domain name is under investigation, or the owners are! Understandably they didn't tell me more than that.

I suggest you book it with a catcher that works with a 'b' list. We don't do that on our public system, but some of our hosted clients use it, as it's built into their systems. If any of them are reading this, you might get a PM :D
